SUCCESSFUL WLR/LIONS CLUB HAMPER APPEAL CYCLE

 

Sunday last, Dungarvan Credit Union Cycling Club had a great turn-out for its fund raising spin. Thirteen cyclists travelled to Lismore and the Vee in cold dry weather following a very generous collection from everyone. There were numerous Santa hats and even some full Santa suits. Those participating included Mark Power (DCC), Liam Rossitor, Keith Radley, Frances Barry, Frank Browne, Pádraig de Búrca, Pat O’Driscoll, Michael Moloney, Siobhan O’Mahony, Siobhan Dunphy, Michael ‘Banner’ Whelan, Davey Tobin and joining us especially for the Occasion Rory Wyley Senior.

 

WEEKEND SPINS

 

Saturday saw a group head to Lismore, Tallow, Ballyduff and home through Cappoquin.

 

Out cycling were Mark Power (DCC), Keith Walsh, Dzintar’s Klava, Keith Radley, Michael Keane, Siobhan O’Mahony, Frank Browne, Pat O’Driscoll and Michael ‘Banner’ Whelan.

 

CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR/WEEKEND SPINS

 

Weekend spins will continue to meet at John Foley’s Kilrush on Saturday and The Square on Sunday, both at 9.30am.

Anyone looking for a group spin during the holiday period is asked to assemble at John Foley’s Kilrush at 9.30am on the days between Christmas and New Years. 

Anyone not suffering from the excesses of New Years Eve should gather at John Foley’s Kilrush on Tuesday the 1st at 9.30am.

SUNDAY 16TH DECEMBER SPIN

 

The WLR/Lions Club Hamper Appeal Cycle is on this weekend. This has become an Annual event for the Club and is a very worthy cause. The format is the same as previous years with a gathering in The Square at 9.20 for a photo. The hat will be passed around for donations. This will be followed by a leisurely spin with the route decided on the morning. Any members wanting a shorter spin can join in and turn when they wish. Santa hats over helmets or Christmas outfits are encouraged!

Not discouraged by the blustery wet conditions over the weekend we still had some brave souls out on the bikes.

CHRISTMASS NIGHT OUT IN MINNIES

 

The club will meet for a few sociable christmass drinks on Tuesday 18TH December. Interested members should meet in Minnies Bar, Abbeyside at 8.30 pm.

 

 

NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING

 

The 1st Committee Meeting for 2008 will take place at 8pm on Monday 7th January at Minnies Bar, Abbeyside.

WEEKEND SPINS

 

Good sized spins took place over the weekend in very blustery conditions.

 

Saturday saw the group head to Lismore, Tallow, Youghal bridge and home. Sunday’s group headed to Lismore, The Vee and home through Cappoquin. Sunday’s group achieved a record speed of 33mph ‘wind assisted’ passing the Welcome Inn Bar, shattering the previous record of 29mph.

 

Out cycling were Mark Power (DMCC), Mark Power (DCC), Keith Walsh, Dzintar’s Klava, Emma Walsh, Enda Donnelly, Colin Organ, Pat O’Driscoll, Liam Rossitor, Michael Moloney, Pádraig de Búrca and Mark Radley .
