O'Mahony Cycles & Nursery Summer Series

Dungarvan Cycling Club continues its competitive cycling season with 8 weeks of group handicapped racing, beginning on Wednesday May 9th, 2007. This competition, our Summer Series, is kindly sponsored by O’Mahony Cycles & Nursery in Sexton Street, Abbeyside. Tony and Siobhan have sponsored this competition since its launch in 2003, and we are grateful for their continued assistance.

On a 22 mile course, of which the first 2.5 miles is uphill from Master McGrath monument at Ballymacmague, groups of cyclists will set off at timed intervals. A group of slower riders will commence at 6:45pm, followed by a second group approx. 8 minutes later. Faster groups will set off later, and set-off times will be judged with a view to having all groups complete the course at approximately the same time. The course follows the main road towards Clonmel for 10 miles, and turns sharp left downhill to Millstreet and Modeligo, and on the main road once again back to Dungarvan at the Welcome Inn, Cappagh. The final flat section of this challenging circuit follows from here to Ballinamuck, and we finish at the top of the hill.

The Joe Fitzgerald Memorial Cup is presented annually to the overall winner of this competition.

Our scoring system is as follows:
